Lempuyang Temple
This was my favorite day in Bali.
Top of my Must See list was Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang... The Gates of Heaven. Its said to be one of the holiest places in Bali, and predates almost all of the Hindu temples on the island, at almost 2,000 years old. We knew upon arrival that there wasn't any way we would be able to climb the 7 stations of the temple, at least not with the kids, so Hubs and I will be back someday to conquer that.... However that didn't make our trip any less special...
We opted to have a guide with us during our tour, since I wasn't just there for the famous IG photo and we were so so happy to get the nicest kid, Gede. He was all smiles and his English was excellent! He told us about so many of the statues at the temple and what they represented, how the Hindus pray and worship, and the meaning behind their Karma ways. By GAWLY I can relate so deeply to it all.... I highly recommend paying the donation for a Guide! He then asked if we would like to meet the Holy Man behind the gates and welcomed us to pray with him... Andrew knew how much being here meant to me, so he stayed with the littles while Madi and Rye jumped at the chance to join me.
I found myself in the moment, tears streaming down my face... Something so powerful came over me. I cant explain the feeling of authenticity and beauty. Something so simple, prayer. Prayer to yourself, prayer to the life.
I found a deeper sense of spirituality on the hilltop.
We were able to meet the priest, Om Swastyastu, and walk around to admire the statues and stone work... Everything was getting dressed up in the Temple for the upcoming Ceremony... Welcoming the New Moon and New Year.
Gede, you forever have a place in my heart <3
Our dear friend Ketut.... <3<3<3
Its said that Buddha reached enlightenment under the Banyan Tree.... And that the Bohdi Leaf represents that path...
On the 2.5 hour drive South back to Ubud, we stopped off at Tegenungan Waterfall...
This place was very beautiful, tucked away in the Jungle... However was PACKED with tourists! We still got our feet wet and soaked in the sounds.... I love that music of crashing water!
Again, my favorite day though in Bali..... I cant wait to return... Till next time, xoxo
