Before the Storm//Shirahama Beach

Im so so happy Fall is here... We have had cooler days, maybe not by much, but still a crisp in the air early in the morning, or late in the afternoon when we go for a walk with the pup... Completely refreshing after the relentless heat of the Summer here in Japan...

Things have slowed down now that Obon Season has passed and it seems everywhere we visit lately we find ourselves alone... Its somewhat other-worldly, like the Earth is staying still and quiet just for us, just for a moment... Like she can see that we need it for release...

Last weekend we had our 8th typhoon rolling through the island (number 9 hit this weekend)... The girls and I couldn't take being stuck in the house from the rain, and the coastline always gives our mood and energy a reset... Rye was off with friends, and we knew the storm would be rolling in any time, so we just jumped in the car and drove...

Im always in awe watching my kids at the beach... Its like the most natural place in the world for them to be. Story played in the wet sand, Tea in the water, and Madi collected sea glass in shades of bright green and aqua. They ran and danced and called out to the sea dragon (the rocks coming out from the water in the shape of Falkor)... We stayed until the rain started to drop and our bellies called for Friday night pizza...

A perfect afternoon with these babes.

Hello Kitty Panties and all... She couldn't stay away... Mother Ocean calls to her.
