Halloween 2022- Astronaut Lewis
^^Ya’ll, press play before you read/scroll—- its so good hahaha ^^
Oh my- friends…. when Tea told me this year (really last year! She has been waiting for this….) she wanted to be an astronaut this Hallows Eve, I was absolutely stoked! This kid is allll S P A C E. She has been studying and documenting and souring books, videos, documentaries, and the internet for years, absorbing every bit of info she can- She talks about working for NASA someday with such enthusiasm!
I knew immediately I would need to paper-mache the helmet… Ummmm havent done this since being a kid, but thank goodness for YouTube University! It was a 3 day process, but way easy- For the clothes, we kept it super simple… Tea actually put that all together… Then the Rocket- After last years “Bulls-Eye” (She was Woody from Toy Story- it was awesome!) I knew I wanted to at least attempt one! A neighbor was moving in (Yep, us Military member are always on the move! so plenty of boxes) so I grabbed some of their big chunks of cardboard, some left over paint from another project, duct tape and tin foil- Its a little “rough and ready” (watching too much British baking Show lately, calling everything I make these days a bit R & R:))The girls helped, and this is what we came up with! Soooo much fun.
It was already planted in my head that I wanted to do “Mars” style shots up on the Mountain for her, as Etna’s Crater Silvestri does look like another planet! And will be putting these into a photo book for her (so of course she can write out a Story!) We loaded the car last Friday and headed to the Top, annnnnd it was slam packed full of people…. NOOOOO! Fortunately, we drove down a little ways and found a quiet bit of lava rock, without the added people! I didnt get wide open shots, as it was the side of the road, but the sun flare ended up being MAGIC! Tea was wicked excited about that ;) Funny enough, people were pulling over and stopping their cars to take pictures of us! hahaha So funny- yet it made Birdy anxious, so I did this whole shoot in 20 mins, so she could get back to the safety of the car- Honestly didnt know what we were coming home with, but pleasantly surprised- they turned out perfect… <3
Bird was giddy scrolling through these, playing the song above (one of her FAVES) so my mama heart is over joyed. I hope you all have a spooktacularly fun Halloween! xoxo
