And Here We Are.

Im starting from today. Today our new adventure begins... Yes, we moved to Sasebo, Japan 6 weeks ago, but the transition was a rough one, at least for husband and I. It has taken us, literally, months to be settled... We feel a bit battered, a bit exhausted, yet part of me I know is stronger, yet again. Each Navy move has its challenges, and moving overseas with a large family, well that one takes the cake! Heres a brief recap of the last 6 weeks...

Vegan Pot Pie....

This weekend we got rain... Lots of rain. For my family it couldnt have been more perfect weather! We had such a long last week of school, graduations and concerts and field days and meetings... I know most of you can relate! The home stretch can be taxing. So the coolness from the storms that rolled in had us watching movies and making tons of food and soaking up some much needed R&R.... The grey skies are always welcome to us here on the Emerald coast... A relief from the almost relentless heat and humidity...

Birdy in the WildFlowers

This little girl of mine...

We always joke in our home that she is enough child for anyone to handle...

But here's the truth. She is incredible. She is bold and stubborn, creative and brilliant... She sees all of the colors in this world, the beauty, the pain. She marches to the rock of her own rhythm... She is kind when treated with kindness, and fights hellfire with hellfire...

Road Trip to Maine...

But when we received our new PCS orders (that'll be another post!) it was just the kick in the pants I needed to say "Hubby, its now or never!" So within 24 hrs we had our trip planned, and a couple days later we hit the road in our rental van...

Mother's Day trip to the Nursery...

Mother's Day is one of my favorite days of the year... I always feel appreciated, my kids are trying to be on their best behavior, and husband spoils me completely... This year, I cant lie, I was beat. I decided to choose this particular weekend of all weekends to wean Astoria into her own room. She has been co-sleeping with us for the last 14 months, and although it has been wonderful up to this point, we are no longer getting any sleep.... Its hot, our bed is to small, my boobs are killing me, and she is restless. So Mother's Sunday I was beyond tired... I had been up for almost 48 hrs, aside from some cat naps here and there... What was I thinking, right??

Our Fuji-San Climb!

We have lived here in Japan for a little over 2 1/2 years.... I wont bore you with all we have done, seen, explored, experienced, ect, however I will tell you that almost all of the Americans I have met here will tell you they have a "Japan Bucket List".... Usually filled with monuments, shrines, cities... But at the top of many of these lists is climbing Mt Fuji... and it was sitting quietly at the top of ours.
