Vale Del Bove Hike… Mt Etna

The first week of July on the Mountain was pretty amazing… So much Gold! Spanish Broom in full Bloom- the colors and fragrance lifting my spirits, drawing me in- I honestly feel like Vale De Bove is my favorite Etna Hiking area to Date….

We tried to hike this trail a few times… Once last Spring with the kids (they didn’t last), then once again with the Dog (Don’t bring dogs friends- the lava rock will tear up their paws! Bad ‘Dog Mom’ moment where husband carried our Golden back down about 1.5 miles!) So this trail was one we had to conquer!

It was a good challenge, about 2 miles vertical- You start out in the woods, the tail narrows pretty drastically, then its like climbing sand… Total leg workout! When you finally arrive at the clearing, the views become magnificent! Lava fields and rock climbing, the Peak in view. We had so much fun on this one!

Here is where we parked- We spent about 4-5 hrs exploring, even meeting some German Hikers! Go check it out if your in the area…. Its a quieter spot then the main craters of Etna, and every time we go its just beautiful… Cant wait to visit again this Autumn!
