Cava Grande del Cassibile

Cava Grande del Cassibille…

Ya’ll, I have been finding some Gems on ‘All Trails!!’ This hike was another W I N.

Called the “Grand Canyon of Sicily” this Nature Preserve is a fabulous day out with the family! It had a bit of everything we wanted—- views as far as we could see, cows, wild flowers, forest, ruins, water, and a pretty full day worth of adventure… We honestly didnt even scratch the surface of all this area in Syracusa has to offer! There are swimming holes we havent found yet, as well as tombs that take you through back to Pantalica (my last post!) and ruins that date back to 11th-10th centuries BC! Places like this get Andrew and i giddy, and the fact that we can share this with the kids is just so cool…

The drive is about 50 mins from housing here in Sigonella, expressway to countryside… We parked here however I know there are multiple spots that will take you to different parts of the Park, including the larger River area for swimming. We plan to discover a different one next time!

I hope you enjoy the photos, and if your in the area this is a definite must go!
