It has been on my Bucket List for years, grouped in with that ever nagging feeling of “unfinished” when we left Japan 5 years ago… I had dreams of walking the cobblestone streets of the Geisha District, seeing shrines that date hundreds of years back, strolling along the Oi River, imagining what this land looked like 500 years ago. On our road trip up to Kyoto this month we decided a perfect stop along the way would be the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.. Dear Husband had visited this area years ago with the Blue Ridge, and I remember the profound impact it had on him—- I knew it was somewhere I wanted our children, as well as myself, to see.

Visit to Yokosuka..... My golly we miss it

Car. Bus. Plane. Train. Walk….

This was our weekend…. On Friday we made a spontaneous decision to head up to Yokosuka to see Husband! He called and said he didnt have to be back at work till Monday, so we jumped on it and grabbed tickets before we could even think about the dent in our wallet or the amount of travel for only a short 37 hrs together…. Because ANY time we get with him these days, well its worth everything <3

Takeo//Sakura Season

Um Wow. The Sakura this year is sooooooo stunning…

This past week we kicked off Spring Break with a trip out to Takeo… Mifuneyama Ruken. We have been to the gorgeous park in Autumn to see the crazy fire colors of the Japanese Maples (there is another post of that), but this go round the hills were blanketed in blush pink and white blossoms… It was beyond yummy!

Riding on Trains with Story

She turned 3.

Story has been in love with trains since we moved back to Japan…. When riding in the car she dodges her eyes from one window to the next, spotting them out as they move down the tracks, “Look Mom! A Twaiiin!!” The excitement in her voice is palpable… She notes the colors and how fast its moving, and has told us every time how she wants to ride the rails…
