My Little Birds......

Welcome!!!!

Im so excited to finally have a new MAKER Blog… Its been a while… Years ago, on another platform, my Blog crashed… I lost so much I wasnt able to recover and honestly felt a bit wrecked from it. But sometimes we rise back from the ashes, brush those shoulders off, and come back in a new way, transformed- Butterfly.

So here is my first Post!

This past month I have been working on sewing up some new garments for my girls… Dresses to wear on vacation back Home, play clothes//romping around Sicily wear ;) For my Tea Bird’s Birthday I decided to surprise her with a cushy Bird…. One to lounge on while she reads… Im so so happy she LOVED it…

The dresses pictured are made form Organic Cotton and Natural Linen. I promise in future to share the patterns I use, but for these I honestly just guessed…. I kinda have a tendency to just ‘go with it’ when it comes to projects (cooking too, so yall may laugh at the recipes Ill start sharing!!) The ‘Royal Bird’ is made from natural dyed linens… Avo skins//pits with Iron, Cutch, and onion skins…. She is stuffed with organic cotton and up-cycled materials, and hand embroidered … Her crown is cut from an old dress of Tea’s…

The more and more I pull out my dye pots, forage and source materials, hear the stitches running through my machine, the more creatively inspired I am… This past year I have been in a rut- From a sickness that lasted months to deployments to a move across the world, doing anything at all “artsy” seemed like a dream- I couldnt get ahead on the daily ‘Mom Life’ to actually find any time for ME! I know some of you can relate- Its easier said then done sometimes to carve out that hour or so for yourself, that doesnt end up just being a sac on the couch, utterly exhausted from whatever that day challenged you with! But now we are finding our new rhythm- the slower groove of Shore Duty, settling into Sicily.

The evening we took these shots couldnt have been more beautiful…. The girls and I blaring music in the car, driving just outside our Base Housing area where we have fields of flowers and horses… We stayed out to watch the sun drop behind the mountains, for the Moon to say ‘Hello.’ Me + Them havent had an evening like this since early last Fall in Kyushu. I miss it dearly.

Something about these photos remind me of ‘Pride and Prejudice’- (I have probably seen that movie 30x, read the book twice! Love some Jane Austen….) Maybe its because I listened to the soundtrack while editing, maybe its because my dream in life is to have a Home like that in the countryside someday, maybe its because there is just something about simple fibers and natural colors that make my heart thump louder…

Anyway, enough for this one…. Here are my babies, who are no longer babies. Forever barefoot in Nature, my Wild Ones…. Till next time-xoxo
