Happy Mini-Moon... Finally! Zion: Day 1
Ok, its crazy—- it took us 15+ Years to do a Honeymoon…. but, in our defense, it’s not like we have had much for means to do one! Living overseas, raising 4 babes, deployments, and never really living close enough to family to ask for help—- Now living stateside, we made it happen.
Dear Husband and I have been dreaming of a Big National Park Hiking Trip, just the 2 of us, for some time- 4.5 days was N O T enough time, but we did our best! Zion was numero dos on our list, so I’m counting this as a huge win that we made it happen!!!!
Our itinerary was packed full… Fly into Vegas early, rent a car, drive the almost 3 hrs to Kolob (grabbing water and groceries on the way) to get our butts on Trail! The drive into Utah—- Blew. My. Mind. Already so incredible. already giddy….
It’s next to impossible for an Amateur Photog to capture this place…. it’s one you have to explore for yourself. Maybe that’s why the camera just can’t do justice of majestic places??? It’s the universe saying “Hey, get out there! Explore! Stand in awe!” But through the next few posts, I’ll share what I did snap- Because even though I can’t ever re-create that feeling- that crazy beauty from view finder to click to here- I love it anyway…. And I want to re-live these moments through my imagery as much as I can… it was truly so damn cool!
We started out with Taylor Creek Trail- A very serene 5 mile out and back hike… a fabulous intro to Zion, a great stretch for our legs after all the travel….
Next up, we took a scenic drive over to Timber Creek Overlook Trail - a quick 1.2 mile hike just to soak in the 360 views from a higher point! Everything in the Zion area is spread out, moving with the land instead of against it… it’s beautiful, and demands you slow down and enjoy the drives.
By late afternoon, we were Cruising to Cedar City to grab some incredible Stone Fire Pizza, then back around to Orderville where we stayed at East Zion Resort —- absolutely adorable Glamping Tent (I’ll share more on that in another post!) On the way, it snowed a little, and the deer were out! To say we were wrecked is an understatement… so lot’s of landscape photos ;)
Stay tuned for my Day 2 post! It’s only taken me almost 2 months to start editing these… but I like to space out the trips and looking at the images. They take me right back to these special moments, and I feel like I’m there again- well, almost.
Till next time-xoxo
