Huis Ten Bosch

Theres an attraction about 5 minutes from our house called Huis Ten Bosch... We drive by it everyday on our way to school, admiring the dutch architecture from afar, the flowers through the gates... Its a theme park here on Kyushu, done in a Netherlands style, housing large buildings, a clock tower, huge Ferris wheel, shops and restaurants, and fun attractions for the kiddos! We are waiting until Dad returns to do the full sh-bang, but a couple of weeks ago the kids and I ventured a small area of the park, Harbour Zone...

Nagasaki// Chinese Lantern Festival

Our time spent among-st all of the people is almost indescribable.. There is an energy like no other... The sounds of drums and conversation and children around every corner.. The street food filling ally ways with aromas of peach buns, Chinese fried noodles, skewers of meat and dumplings.. Its a rhythm that just works, thousands all crammed into one street called ChinaTown.

Road Trip to Maine...

Our first cross country road trip...

It was completely spontaneous, yet 100% overdue. I have not been back to Maine to see my Dad and extended family in 10 years... They are so far North, up in Narnia as I always say, which is no excuse, but life gets in the way and the journey seemed a stretch... But when we received our new PCS orders (that'll be another post!) it was just the kick in the pants I needed to say "Hubby, its now or never!" So within 24 hrs we had our trip planned, and a couple days later we hit the road in our rental van...

Saying farewell to Japan...

I guess its that time.... its finally arrived. Our whole house has been packed up and is on a boat back to the US of A, and we are about to follow... well via big blue bird. Its that time to say farewell to our lives here in Japan, and embrace new adventures back home.

Our Fuji-San Climb!

We have lived here in Japan for a little over 2 1/2 years.... I wont bore you with all we have done, seen, explored, experienced, ect, however I will tell you that almost all of the Americans I have met here will tell you they have a "Japan Bucket List".... Usually filled with monuments, shrines, cities... But at the top of many of these lists is climbing Mt Fuji... and it was sitting quietly at the top of ours.
