A day we went from wine and dancing, to a Medi-cane! (Mediterranean Hurricane?! Yep, its really called that-) I seriously drove through a small flash flood coming home! Not the first time! I did a pre-typhoon shoot in Japan, and pre-hurricane shoot in Florida! What is up with that?? haha
Annnnyway…. Meet Jamie!
A Woman with an incredibly infectious personality and a smile to knock you on your ass!
I have been working with her and her husband on their Handmade Candle Co, shooting images for their web-shop over this past year (ill blog some of those shots with links soon!), and in that time have gotten to know her a little! She is an amazing Home-School Mama to 2 beautiful girls, Navy Wife (Husband just picked up Officer!!!), travel enthusiast, and from now what I was able to witness, Ah-Mazing friend…. I feel so lucky and thrilled she asked me to tag along on one of her Lady Dates to capture some shots of her Tribe, the Family she built here in Sigonella.
I think this right here is what we all want in life… a “Ride or Die Crew” as we call them at these overseas Military Bases, to get us through the tough times, the deployments, the pressure and chaos, and these past years- Covid Lock-downs. The people we can giggle with, travel with, cry with, DANCE with! A glass of wine, a good conversation, connection-
This shoot was all about friendship, celebrating womanhood, beauty and laughter, and their time spent here in Sicily, together- The energy these babes brought was palpable… My job has never been so easy, I just had to point my camera, it was magic.
Our location was a place sentimental to them, Jaduka Winery … Somewhere they had been before, shared food and wine, but this visit we had the whole place to ourselves! Giuseppe was our ‘tour guide’, a young guy who spoke very good English and showed us the vineyard as well as where and how they make the wine- His Mother cooks in the kitchen here and although I sat back and just shot images of the food, I cant wait to go back with Husband for a Date Weekend and gobble down the veggies they grow right here on the grounds, and taste the beautiful wines!
Thank you Jamie, all of you gals, for a perfect afternoon, a shoot the reminded me of my ‘WHY’… I havent taken on a photo session like this in a while, but every thing about these images reminded me of how much I love it….
