Madi Paige's Post Apocalyptic Halloween Costume-
Holy Cow, i am in awe of this girls talent——
Let me start by saying this- I havent bought her a Halloween Costume since her first year of Life- I always made them- Yet I was a child raising a child and my skills were massively lacking! But I tried… And every year the costumes improved just a weeee bit, and every year I made them whatever it was their hearts dreamt up! (even if it was a total failure! we had a few…) Madison changed the game in her teens when she took this tradition into her own hands- Each year more impressive in its own way then the last…. She is an artist- through and through.
She takes the Hallows Eve ancient tradition of Transformation pretty serious, accepting it as a night she can share her her freaky side with nothing but admiration from strangers and friends alike… She works sometimes months on a project, little by little, to bring her imagination to life-
Words cant even describe how crazy cool I think this years is, on so many levels- but let me at least share her vision, and materials! It all started out with a game- “Stray”- Its about a post apocalyptic world where the humans are gone and robots with camera heads are picking up what was left behind- (Im sure there are so many symbolic meanings behind that if you just think about it!) It planted a possible idea- Then at work one day, she was cleaning out the Youth Centers random rooms and toy spaces, going through recycling, when she found some ABC Foam- (you know, those foam letters the kids play with?) and the picture in her head started to form- Honestly, when Dad and I saw her walk through the door with a box of essentially “Recycling” we were a bit confused, but I knew something crazy was forming in that mind- Welp, I love what she created!!!
This Mechanical Camera Robot is made from almost 100% recycled bits- Very cool when you think about the original vision she had inspired by that game!
Items: Cardboard box, baseball cap holder template, gardening gloves, pair of tights, ABC Foam, broken LED and twinkle light wiring, old pin racks from Dads Uniform, buttons, thumb tacks, screws, plastic trash, clip board mechanics, a barbie doll box, and a TON of hot glue… She hand painted, meticulously, the whole thing, in multiple layers.
I dont know exactly what the future holds for this kid, but at 18 years old, its so damn impressive to see the more finessed artist she is turning into… Wow.
I hope you all have an amazing Halloween! Ill be sharing up another post of witches soon- Till next time- xoxo
